Champion to drive the BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM
Munich, 21st March 2012. The exact allocation of the BMW drivers to the six Sonax co-branded BMW M3 DTM cars is really taking shape: Martin Tomczyk (DE) will line up in the BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM in 2012. The car, featuring the classic BMW M design, will be run by BMW Team RMG. The news follows the recent announcements that Andy Priaulx (GB) will drive the Crowne Plaza BMW M3 DTM, while Bruno Spengler (CA) will contest the season in the BMW Bank M3 DTM. Dirk Werner (DE) will be behind the wheel of the E-POSTBRIEF BMW M3 DTM.
Tomczyk is delighted with his new equipment for the 2012 season. “Obviously, like the fans, you are very excited to find out which car you will line up in,” says the reigning DTM champion. “I think it is great that, in my case, it is the BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM. The design of this car is very reminiscent of the first generation of the BMW M3, which really made its mark on motorsport. As a young boy, I used to stand in the Motodrom at Hockenheim and cheer on BMW. That makes it all the nicer for me to be able to take my place in a car like this in 2012. BMW M Performance Parts form the bridge between our car on the racetrack and the sporty BMW production models. They take the DTM to the road.”
