Norbert Siedler ends Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season third overall

27/09/2010 11:05 am

“With this I reached my goal for the season,” the VELTINS MRS pilot said with a sigh of relief after the champagne shower with the English drivers Nick Tandy and Sean Edwards. “I had a perfect start and could raise the pressure right away. Honestly speaking, I even had hoped of winning the race, but a few laps before end, shortly after I had caught Edwards in the Ascari curve, the gears did not shift smoothly anymore.”
“The gearbox got stuck between the 4th and 5th gear three or four times. I had to use the clutch for the upshifts and finish the race in cruising gear. However, I am more than satisfied with the third place in the overall standings. When I continue to work with concentration, I will hopefully have a say in the next season’s championship. At least, that’s my ultimate goal.”
For now, champion of the world’s strongest brand trophy series is teammate René Rast, who, after winning in Monza last year, had to be content with the fourth place this time. “He laid the foundations for the championship in the first half of the season already and, in the end, deserved to win,” congratulated Norbert, who will refuse to settle for the role as chaser in the long run.

Porsche Supercup to switch to the Nordschleife

The height of the 2011 season will be the Porsche Carrera World Cup on 25 June 2011. Up to 200 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will compete in this spectacular sprint race on the Nuerburgring Nordschleife. The world’s greatest Porsche race will take place just prior to the start of the 39th ADAC 24-hour race and forms the season highlight of Porsche’s 18 brand trophy series worldwide. This race counts as competition round towards several championships, including the Porsche Carrera Cup in Germany, and runs over six laps (152 268 km).
