ARDEN ENDS INAUGURAL GP3 SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE
The team’s points haul might have been limited, but MW Arden nonetheless finished its GP3 Series campaign on a positive note at Monza. Miki Monras put in a solid drive to move up from 11th to sixth, a position he held to the flag, and Michael Christensen made similarly positive progress from midfield to finish 10th. Meanwhile, their teammate Leonardo Cordeiro put in one of the season’s finest drives.
Condemned to 28th on the grid, following an accident early in Saturday’s race, the Brazilian scythed through the field and was up to 15th by the opening lap’s end. His progress continued unchecked – and during the middle stages of the race, a searing series of ultra-quick laps confirmed he was fastest man on the track at that point. He eventually caught teammate Monras, but the Spaniard proved harder to pass than most and Cordeiro then lost a couple of positions after rival Daniel Morad forced him wide at the second chicane. He swiftly recaptured one of those, however, to take eighth place at the end of a spirited recovery.
