The German Team RSC Mücke Motorsport from Berlin ended its second GP3 Series season with a top three placing in the drivers’ ranking. The Dutchman Nigel Melker, who raced the second season for Peter Mücke’s and Ralf Schumacher’s racing stable, was on position three of the overall rankings after the season finale, which took place from 9th to 11th September at Monza. “A great result for Nigel and our whole crew,” team manager Peter Mücke said.
In the runs 15 and 16, which were held in the main programme of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Italy, the racing stable from Germany’s capital remained without points and fell back to the fourth from the second position in the overall team ranking. “Of course, this was annoying. Nevertheless, all in all it has been a very good second season for us in this top-class series, which has been very competitive with 30 drivers. Finishing third and fourth is a great result,” Peter Mücke commented.
In the Formula 3 Euro Series, the Spanish town of Valencia was second last station hosting races 22 to 24. To begin with, Dutchman Nigel Melker and Swede Felix Rosenqvist came in first and second on the 4-kilometre track on Saturday, making the third double success come true for Mücke Motorsport. Spaniard Roberto Merhi completed the podium, already securing the championship title with a victory on Sunday.
Having four victories, one runner up and three third places on his account, the Dutchman now ranks fourth in the table and still has the chance to become vice champion at the season finale in Hockenheim. Rosenqvist (five second and three third places) is now in fifth position overall. Four weeks ago in Silverstone, guest starter Marco Sörensen (Denmark) brought home the fourth victory for the Berlin team.
“Double victory and fastest race lap by Nigel on Saturday were just perfect,” team Principal Peter Mücke said. “Nigel and Felix set the pace of the race throughout the complete distance. That is a great testimony to our cars and the excellent work of the entire team.”
In the three final races of the ADAC Formel Masters, Pascal Wehrlein experienced more lows than highs. Nevertheless, the pilot sponsored by the ADAC Stiftung Sport stood at the top of the standings. The team already celebrated the victory when Wehrlein looked towards 2012.
However, there is no precise roadmap for the future yet: “We are thrilled to have won the championship with Pascal,” Peter Mücke said. “The coming season will witness Pascal’s next steps in the formula sports, and our team is delighted to accompany him along the way.”
The good final score was supported by Jason Kremer, who started the season finale in Hockenheim with his first victory of the season, and again stood on the podium in third place after the last race. The 16-year-old finished the season as second best of the Berlin racing team in seventh position overall. “Jason has developed very well. Together with him we will participate in the ADAC Formula Masters again next year and fight for the title,” team manager Peter Mücke announced the continuation of their cooperation.
