Pay attention to the consumption data, also for winter windscreen cleaners
A high performance winter windscreen cleaner guarantees clear vision in seconds. That is good for safer driving, but it also has a positive effect on cost calculations. The correlation is clarified by the latest test conducted by AUTO BILD in cooperation with the technical inspection association (GTÜ). According to the editors: „When a cleaner gets the dirt away after just three strokes, it is clearly more economical than a product which has still not completely cleaned the windscreen after ten.“
Incidentally the test winner, SONAX XTREME Antifreeze & clear view, is clearly ahead in this analysis as well – with 2.4 wiper strokes, equivalent to 120 ml, the quantity required in the test for a defined cleaning cycle. In terms of the test, this makes a purchase price of 33 cents per cleaning. The cleaning with the inexpensive last placed cleaner in the test took more than four times as long and consumed no less than 500 ml. So every cleaning cost 65 cents, in spite of its very low purchase price. And that will empty the wiper water reservoir very quickly indeed. And the initial saving made by the purchase is put into perspective by the considerable safety hazard which is caused by a poor cleaner.
To clarify: Just four seconds without visibility at 90 k.m.h. is equivalent to 120 metres of „flying blind“.
