SONAX GmbH is committed to contin­u­ously improving energy effi­ciency and complying with rele­vant legal require­ments. Based on the estab­lished energy and CO₂ reduc­tion targets, SONAX GmbH advo­cates for the respon­sible use of resources and actively promotes employee aware­ness of energy-effi­cient actions.

Energy manage­ment serves as a binding frame­work to ensure that processes, prod­ucts, and deci­sions are consis­tently geared toward opti­mizing energy effi­ciency. Our energy prin­ci­ples under­score our clear commit­ment to a resource-conserving approach to energy and trans­par­ently commu­ni­cate our values, goals, and measures both inter­nally and exter­nally.

2. Scope

The energy guide­lines apply to:

  • all employees of SONAX GmbH

  • all loca­tions and facil­i­ties of SONAX GmbH

  • all rela­tion­ships with busi­ness part­ners of SONAX GmbH

The energy guide­lines are directed at all internal and external stake­holders – employees, busi­ness part­ners, suppliers, customers, author­i­ties, society, acad­emia, as well as banks and insur­ance compa­nies, and external service providers or busi­ness part­ners working for SONAX GmbH.

3. Objec­tives of Energy Manage­ment

The under­standing of effec­tive and sustain­able energy manage­ment at SONAX GmbH, with the over­ar­ching goal of increasing energy effi­ciency, is pursued company-wide through the following activ­i­ties:

  • Respon­sible handling of energy, contin­uous improve­ment of energy effi­ciency, and the promo­tion of sustain­able solu­tions,

  • Regular review of our energy-related perfor­mance and active energy manage­ment to ensure long-term resource conser­va­tion, compli­ance with legal require­ments, and achieve­ment of defined energy goals, and

  • Mapping our processes and consump­tion to ensure trans­parent repre­sen­ta­tion and moni­toring of our goals.

4. Prin­ci­ples of Energy Manage­ment

The energy manage­ment of SONAX GmbH is firmly rooted in the compa­ny's activ­i­ties and is contin­u­ously devel­oped and expanded. Energy manage­ment and the asso­ci­ated activ­i­ties comply with applic­able German laws and stan­dards, as well as rele­vant inter­na­tional laws and regu­la­tions.

The prin­ci­ples of energy manage­ment are as follows:

  • Energy manage­ment is closely connected with sustain­ability manage­ment to drive a unified and goal-oriented energy manage­ment approach.

  • The deci­sion-makers of SONAX GmbH make deci­sions regarding the improve­ment of energy effi­ciency based on reli­able data and promote contin­uous improve­ment through audits, feed­back, and early iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of risks and oppor­tu­ni­ties.

  • SONAX GmbH fosters employee respon­si­bility through trans­parent commu­ni­ca­tion, regular training, and a work envi­ron­ment that supports inno­v­a­tive ideas and the active involve­ment in shaping processes.

5. Energy Manage­ment

Reduc­tion of Energy Consump­tion and CO₂ Emis­sions

The energy manage­ment of SONAX aims to reduce energy consump­tion and the asso­ci­ated CO₂ emis­sions. The following specific and measur­able goals have been defined:

  • Reduc­tion of CO₂ emis­sions by 35% per ton of product by 2035

  • Tran­si­tion to 100% renew­able energy sources (“green elec­tricity”) by 2030

Conti­nous Improve­ment of Energy Effi­ciency

  • We are committed to imple­menting measures and processes to achieve ongoing and long-term improve­ments in energy effi­ciency.

Estab­lishing and Reviewing Energy Targets

  • Energy targets are set, reviewed, and adjusted annu­ally by the manage­ment board and the advi­sory committee to ensure sustain­able improve­ment.

Aware­ness and Respon­si­bility

  • SONAX GmbH strengthens aware­ness of respon­sible energy use through training and internal commu­ni­ca­tion, fostering active partic­i­pa­tion from all employees.

6. Decla­ra­tion of Commit­ment

Energy Manage­ment is deeply embedded in the mindset and actions of SONAX GmbH and repre­sents a central element of the compa­ny's strategy and culture. Our energy-related success factors are based on the consis­tent align­ment of all processes with our energy prin­ci­ples, the active commit­ment of all stake­holders, and the promo­tion of a culture that supports inno­va­tion and contin­uous improve­ment.

These guide­lines are reviewed annu­ally by the Energy Manager and the Sustain­ability Depart­ment, updated as needed, and approved during the strategic review meeting.
